Q: Why is my policy moving?

A: In December of 2021, it was announced that HCI Group, Inc., a company with operations in insurance (TypTap Insurance Company & Homeowners Choice Property & Casualty Insurance Company), software development, and real estate, had reached an agreement in principle with United Insurance Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: UIHC) to transition all of United’s personal lines insurance business in the states of Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina to HCI. As part of that agreement, TypTap Insurance Company has entered into an agreement with United Property & Casualty Insurance Company.

Q: Who is TypTap Insurance Company? 

A:  TypTap is an experienced company with new ideas! We’re not new to insurance – we’re just taking a fresh approach to it. TypTap was founded in 2016 and funded by HCI Group, Inc., whose common shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “HCI” and are included in the Russell 2000 and S&P small-cap 600 indexes. TypTap has received an “A,” Exceptional, Financial Stability Rating from Demotech, Inc. We are accepted by mortgage lenders and are backed by strong reinsurance partners around the globe.

Q: How do I accept the TypTap replacement policy and become a TypTap customer?

A: To accept the TypTap offer, please remit the amount due on the invoice. If your policy is mortgagee billed, a copy of the invoice has been sent to your mortgage company.

Q: Where/how can I make my payments?

A: All payments for TypTap renewal policies should be sent to P.O. Box 1120 Ocala, FL 34478, or call us to make a payment at (844) 289-7968.

Q: My policy is paid by my mortgage company will they be notified?

A: Yes, your mortgage company will receive a copy of your TypTap renewal policy along with an invoice.

Q: Who should I call if I have a claim?

A: Claims with a loss date before 6/1/2022 should be reported to UPC. Claims after 6/1/2022 can be reported by calling TypTap at (844) 289-7968 or email us at fnol@typtap.com.
